What up Denver.

As March comes to an end I’m going to give a brief rundown of the month as well as plans for the future. April is going to be a BIG month.

March was pretty great. We had our first Thursday session which went fairly well. We had around 25 people come out and participate in devotion and a free session. A lot of people kept coming Thursday after Thursday expecting a free session but were sadly disappointed. Those were the people who didn’t read this blog or keep up with the Facebook. Anyways, no hard feelings, I just want you all to know that I (Josh Cody(the read headed guy at the door)) just don’t have the time in my week to run Thursday sessions consistently. I will however be opening the park up on Thursdays frequently throughout the summer.

Okay, back to the 1st Thursday session. I talked about church. What is church? If we look into the book of Acts in the New Testament we see how the early church began and what their motives and intentions of gathering together were. A very accurate definition given of the church is in Acts 2:42. When we study this passage we see that the church is not a building, instead it is a group of friends who all believe that Jesus is the Savior of the world. Also in Acts 2 we see that church was not meant to be legalistic, anti homosexual, boring, contradicting, or old fashioned. This is VERY important because the view of the christian church has been skewed greatly in America. I was very encouraged to see a response come from this time of devotion to God’s word. I had a great conversation with a goodfriend of mine on the meaning of the word “gospel” and I also have had the opportunity to lift up prayers for a mother going through a hard time. After a very laid back time of fellowship everybody shredded the park for a couple of hours. The next Thursday session will be APRIL 21! Mark your calendars for April 21st when guest speaker Mike Hall will bring the devotion and we will of course enjoy a free session.

Looking ahead to April everyone needs to make sure they come to the HANGAR WORKDAY. On April 16thwe will knock out a couple of projects to improve the park. I am only one man, and I can’t do it all on my own. We need all Hangar Skate park participants to come out and do their part. Projects will include: pulling up plywood to use for ramps, replacing bulbs over the park, cleaning the park, and dumping all unwanted junk.

Also in March we decided that we would put on a JAM at the Hangar in April. Considering the park will be nice and clean from the workday its appropriate to bring in a crowd to check out the park. This is closely related with our desire to continue building up the park. Zach Rogers has been relentlessly putting together details and finding sponsors for this event. The Hangar Jam will be on April 30th and all proceeds will go into the building of the park. I really hope all you guys get behind this so we can raise enought money that we can see another building project, with the SKATE crowd in mind, happen very soon. The Jam will include give aways(FREE stuff), raffles, and local attention. We are still looking for sponsors so if anyone would like to suggest a possible sponsor or offer sponsorships we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for reading this post and getting involved in the Hangar Skate park. Remember those very important dates for April: 16th-workday…21st-Thursday Session… and the 30th-Hangar JAM! Comments are greatly appreciated.
